The filth of socialized medicine

As many of you know, I was born and raised in the UK. I have seen the NHS (National Health Service) indeed I was born in one of these glorious socialist hospitals.

As many of you also know, I absolutely and emphatically deplore anything socialist, including said healthcare system. As Ringo star once said ‘Everything the government touches turns to crap’ and this can be said of the healthcare system in Britain.

health 1

While the US system might not be perfect (and I draw it down to government interference to begin with) we can all agree that it has the best services to offer. The US outspends every other nation on the planet for healthcare, and it really does show in its services. We have more beds, more equipment and more staff.

Some of my friends and family in England will argue with me about this, saying that the US healthcare system is too expensive, and that we should have FREE healthcare like Britain does. It truly does grind my gears to hear them say this because they are all mostly very intelligent people and I love them dearly. On this particular issue though they are dead wrong. In fact, I would go as far to say; ignorance is bliss.

The UK healthcare system is a broken socialist nightmare, with long waiting lines for treatments in germ ridden hallways. While my friends and family claim that it’s free, and that everyone is covered, I have to point out ‘covered by what?’

In the UK, if you get injured; you get treated, in the US, if you get injured; you get treated. There’s not much difference, except that in the US if you don’t have health insurance you’ll get a large bill for the service. This doesn’t mean you won’t get treated, just that you’ll have to pay for it. There are systems set up to help you pay for this service. And while it can be a financial burden on your family, the choice for health coverage is your own, and there are plenty of services to help you pay for said treatment.

In the UK if you get cancer, you can wait weeks or even months for treatment; the difference between life and death. In the US, you can receive treatment immediately, with far better resources at hand to help combat the disease.

I remember a story my friend told me once about his grandfather; it was discovered that he had heart problems and urgently needed a quadruple heart bypass surgery. Without the surgery he was told he would have only 6 months left to live. He was put on a one year waiting list. The socialist system he had paid into his entire life had failed him in his hour of need. Luckily for him, his old friends all got together and set aside some money to send him to another country for private treatment.

Another story; this time about my sister. She gave birth to her son in the UK, and was put on a ward with three other mothers who had just given birth. My Mum told me the story the other day, of how the IV was held in place by masking tape, and how there was a restroom at the end of the hallway, that all the mothers who had just given birth had to walk down in order to relieve themselves. Add on top of this the fact that in order to free up bed space, they discharged my sister the day after she had given birth, before my nephew was fully stabilized and had begun feeding. The next day he was rushed into hospital because his blood sugar levels weren’t right, and he was shaking a lot. They ended up spending the next week in hospital to monitor him.

Compare this with my sister in law, who gave birth to her son in the US last year. She had her own private room and rest room. There were clean beds galore and sparkling new equipment decorating the hallways and private birthing rooms. There was even a food delivery service for meals. Compare this to the food service in UK hospitals, one of which is the hospital I was born in:

Revealed: The NHS hospital kitchens overrun by mice and cockroaches… and how three in four break food hygiene rules

By ROB COOPER

Hundreds of hospital kitchens across the country are dirty, have cockroach and mice infestations or are stocking out of date food, a MailOnline investigation has revealed.

Inspectors found that three-quarters of kitchens are flouting basic food hygiene rules while nearly a third were not properly cleaned.

Six NHS hospitals had mice, two had rats, five had cockroaches and another hospital had an unspecified problem with ‘pests’.

The figures will raise fears that patients are being put at risk by dirty kitchens and staff ignoring proper hygiene policy.

Nationwide, hospitals spend as little as £3 a day per patient – and 82,000 meals a day are thrown out.

Campaigners said it is unacceptable that the public never find out about dirty kitchens ‘until they are teased out using Freedom of Information requests’.

An analysis of 769 environmental health inspection reports revealed that 581 hospitals across Britain are breaking the rules.

Inspectors found 229 kitchens were dirty while a further 62 were stocking out of date food.

The MailOnline obtained copies of reports carried out by environmental health teams under the Freedom of Information Act.

Inspectors at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup, Kent, found mouse droppings and a ‘serious cockroach infestation that posed an imminent risk to health’ in an undercroft last November.

The Bexley Council workers found there had been a cockroach ‘population explosion’ – but it had been missed by pest control teams.

As you can see, while many of my friends and family claim that his service is ‘free’ I have to point out that it is not, and that their taxes pay for it. That money would be better spent on private healthcare. When they tell me healthcare is too expensive and that the poor will suffer, I tell them that there are charities that can help with getting the poor coverage when they need it most.

The same people that tell me the US healthcare system is too expensive are the same people who deny there is anything wrong with the UK health system. While I agree there are flaws in the US health system. I’ll take it any day over Britain’s socialist healthcare system. The difference in service is undeniable.

Obamacare’s failure to launch

The first few days of Obamacare are exactly how we predicted it; a complete and utter failure.

EXCLUSIVE: Just 51,000 people completed Obamacare applications during the website’s first week, out of tens of millions of Americans in 36 states

By DAVID MARTOSKO, U.S. POLITICAL EDITOR

PUBLISHED: 14:29 EST, 10 October 2013 | UPDATED: 11:50 EST, 11 October 2013

Just 51,000 people completed Obamacare applications during the first week the Healthcare.gov website was online, according to two sources inside the Department of Health and Human Services who gave MailOnline an exclusive look at the earliest enrollment numbers.

The career civil servants, who process data inside the agency, confirmed independently that just 6,200 Americans applied for health insurance through the problem-plagued website on October 1, the day it first opened to the public.

Neither HHS nor the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services would comment on the record about the numbers. Enroll America, on Obama administration-related organization that aims to help Americans sign up, only replied to a request for information a day after this article was first published.

‘I don’t have any hard numbers beyond what HHS and the state-based exchanges have released,’ said spokesman Justin Nisly, who insisted that Americans have been ‘enthusiastic’ and ‘grateful’ for Obamacare.

The White House did not respond to emails seeking comment.

But several administration officials have claimed this month that they didn’t have access to the kinds of raw figures MailOnline obtained from the people who work for them. And the anemic totals suggest a far lower level of interest in coverage through the Affordable Care Act than the Obama administration has hoped to see.

SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEOS

Texas Rep. Kevin Brady, a Republican who chairs the House Ways & Means Health Subcommittee, said that ‘if the numbers are accurate,’ they show ‘that relatively few people have navigated the challenges of the first step of the process – roughly the population of a small town in my district.’

‘The White House and HHS have continually claimed they did not have these figures,’ Brady told MailOnline. ‘If they do, they have misled the Congress and the American people.’

The low numbers also reflect a level of technological frustration on the part of Americans whose attempts to investigate their new health insurance options have been met with crashes, error messages and interminable delays.

CNN host Wolf Blitzer agreed on Wednesday that the White House should consider granting Republicans’ demands for a one-year delay of the rule requiring individual taxpayers to buy insurance, given the failings of the glitch-prone enrollment website that has produced more headaches than new customers.

‘If they weren’t fully ready, they should accept the advice that a lot of Republicans are giving them,’ Blitzer said. ‘Delay it another year, get it ready, and make sure it works’

Healthcare.gov provides enrollment services for Americans in 36 states; the remaining 14 states and the District of Columbia, which operate enrollment programs in their own exchanges, represent 33.7 per cent of the U.S. population, according to census projections.

If the state-run exchanges were to have a similar response rate for six months, the national enrollment total would be approximately 2 million.

That number is less than 29 per cent of the 7 million the Obama administration would need, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, in order to balance the new health insurance system’s books and keep it from financial collapse.

‘The administration’s goal is seven million people in the first year,’ Americans for Tax Reform president Grover Norquist, a long-time Obamacare opponent, told MailOnline. ‘We are not on track for anything like seven million. New Coke was retired for being a smaller disappointment.’

‘There was no good reason to hide these number,’ he said. ‘This is not keeping a secret from the Russians or the Syrians. … Why lie about this, for crying out loud?’

‘These numbers reflect what we all know: Obamacare is a disaster,’ Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn told MailOnline. ‘It is time for the president to admit Obamacare is not working and that the American people deserve better.’

Spokespersons for five different Democratic senators declined to provide comment, with most saying they are paying greater attention to the debt-ceiling and government-shutdown standoffs that have gripped Washington, D.C. since before Oct. 1.

House Oversight and Government Affairs Committee chair Darrell Issa, a California Republican, said the small enrollment numbers are a symptom of a larger problem.

‘Far more people have been unable to complete their applications because of crashing websites or impossible wait times than have successfully enrolled,’ said Issa. ‘Meanwhile, the clock is ticking and the window for open enrollment gets smaller every day.’

Issa said Wednesday during a committee hearing on Capitol Hill that ‘in just the past decade, the federal government cancelled at least fifteen major IT projects after wasting $10 billion on their development. But none of those costly mistakes were anywhere near as big or complex, as Obamacare.’

The White House aims to see the health care exchanges enroll at least 2.7 million young, healthy people between the ages of 18 and 35, whose monthly premiums are needed to offset the cost of health care for older, sicker Americans.

It’s unclear how many of the early enrollees fall in that age group.

A projected enrollment total of 2 million would also represent just 4 per cent of the overall number who could participate.

‘More than 50 million Americans qualify for the Obamacare exchanges,’ Americans for Limited Government vice president Rick Manning pointed out, claiming that ‘this paltry response is a clear rejection of the system.’

It remains possible, according to the sources who provided the enrollment data, that overall rates of enrollment will tick up after the much-maligned healthcare.gov website is retrofitted with technology fixes that allow more Americans to navigate it smoothly.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney drew criticism on Monday after he boasted that website response times were cut by one-third after the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services implemented virtual ‘waiting rooms’ that allowed users to trickle in according to the load the government’s servers could handle.

Another flood of customers could hypothetically come in after Jan. 1, the sources said, if a significant number of private employers cancel their employee benefit plans and dump their workers into the Affordable Care Act’s health care exchanges.

Carney reiterated on Monday that the administration would ‘release enrollment data on regularly, monthly intervals.’

‘I’m not sure when that begins,’ he told reporters, ‘but I’m sure we’ll let you know in plenty of time so you can plan and put it on your calendar.’

That night, Comedy Central host Jon Stewart asked Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on ‘The Daily Show’ how many Americans had enrolled in Obamacare.

‘I can’t tell you,’ the secretary answered, ‘because I don’t know.’

An unnamed senior White House official told CNN host Jake Tapper on Monday that the administration would start releasing numbers after November 1, and would combine data from healthcare.gov with those from more than a dozen states that run their own health insurance exchanges, in order ‘to have a good picture of what’s happening across the country.’

Sen. Ted Cruz, the feisty tea party standard-bearer who led a lengthy quasi-filibuster last month that raised the profile of what Republicans say are Obamacare’s legal and philosophical shortcomings, said Thursday that ‘every day our concerns are validated as we learn more about how the law can’t deliver on its promises.’

‘The law has failed on every single measure,’ Cruz told MailOnline. ‘It does not make healthcare more affordable or accessible. It does the opposite.’

Tea Party Patriots national coordinator Jenny Beth Martin said Thursday that the Obamacare enrollment numbers were unlikely to keep pace with the numbers of Americans who are losing their insurance as the program goes into effect.

‘Over 800,000 people in New Jersey alone have lost their current health insurance in the last month,’ Martin said, ‘yet nationwide only 51,000 people have received health insurance from Obamacare. The numbers just do not add up.’

Overlaid on top of Obamacare’s rocky launch has been a partial government shutdown whose broad personnel layoffs have compounded what was already a difficult rollout.

On Wednesday a press spokesperson who answered a Department of Health and Human Services press line told MailOnline to allow at least 24 hours for a comment – one which never came anyway.

‘We’re in furlough status right now, so we’re short-staffed,’ she said. ‘All our requests are going through email. Drop us a line, and if anyone’s available, they’ll get back to you.’

This is what happens when the government meddles in the free market system. As Ringo Star once said “everything the government touches turns to crap”

obamacare 1

Barack Obama’s approval rating has plummeted to 37% this week, and his star program is a dismal failure. America is truly shrugging this president and his idiotic healthcare system.

obamacare 5

If we keep up pressure on Republicans to de-fund Obamacare, we can end this silly charade once and for all. This week will go down in history as the week that government run healthcare was given the boot on the world stage.

obamacare 3

Spitting in the face of tyranny

While Barack Obama keeps his golf course open, he sends his minions out to block WWII veterans from visiting their memorial. The closure of National Parks and National Monuments is nothing but a misguided slap in the face to hard working Americans.

spitting 6

I applaud the Republicans in the House of Representatives for not passing legislation to fund Obamacare. We the people of the United States, the vast majority of us, who understand just what a train-wreck the new healthcare law is, support you 100%. Please keep up your hard work against the tyranny of Obamacare and the backing of it by it’s thugs. We do not care if it takes months to pass another budget. Keep it up, and keep the blame were it belongs; with the democrats and their insane leader Harry Reid.

spitting 7

Barack Obama, you are a fool. You think you can stop people from visiting a memorial to those who sacrificed everything so you could sit in that oval office? You think that’s a good idea, setting up those ‘barrycades’? This little stunt of yours will backfire dramatically. You think your approval rating is bad now, you will be reviled even by your own side in the months to come. So you enjoy your private little golf games, and putting your feet up on the oval office desk, because your days in that office are numbered.

spitting 1

As for the National Parks, my wife and I knew that they would be closed this weekend, but we decided to proceed with our trip to Red River Gorge anyway, as we had planned it months in advance with our friends. We thought that we shouldn’t let a bunch of infantile politicians stand in our way of a good time.

sky 3

spitting 2

We journeyed into the Gorge on Friday evening, and set up camp at Lago Lindas (as we had the year before) just as the sun was starting to set. As evening turned to night, we found many more stars out in the country, and could even see a ribbon of the milky way shining down on us. Whatever we were in for the next day, the journey had been worth it just for this.

sky 1

When we woke up the next morning we headed to the Natural Bridge State Park, which we knew was open because it was State owned and operated. To our surprise there were many people visiting the park. Even the Amish People turned out to view natures wonder.

spitting 8

Despite the government shutdown, there were as many people at the Gorge as on any other beautiful Autumn day. We stopped by the Daniel Boone trading post, and I asked the nice old lady behind the counter for a map, while I questioned her on the parts of the park that were closed. She gave me a list of the federal roads that were barricaded, and I asked her if this had happened in the past. She responded that she had been in the Gorge for 40 years, and could not recall a single time when the parks had been closed in this fashion. This gives us more of an incite to the Democrat led Government’s goals. Even though shutdowns have happened many times in the last 40 years, this was the first time this lady could remember such a show occurring in such a manner.

spitting 4

With my new map, and list of closures in my hand, we drove down to Miguel’s Pizza for lunch while we planned out our next adventure.

spitting 10spitting 9

We decided to avoid the federal gravel roads, and explore alternative sites that we’d never been to. Along the way we found barricaded roads, with vehicles parked out in front of them. Apparently many tourists had decided just to hike along these closed roads and see the sites they had come there for, regardless of the silly barricades they had found. I couldn’t help but mentally compare it to the WWII vets tearing down the ‘barrycades’ in DC.

spitting 5

We ended up visiting ‘Whistling Arch’, and climbing up a 30 foot cliff face to find this amazing view of the gorge.

sky 2

After sitting down for a while and enjoying the remote view that we had found, we adventured further in my jeep, back toward the camp site. Along the roads we drove along, the sides were littered with cars where people had decided just to jump out and find their own ways to the sites they cherished.

spitting 12

So no matter how much the government thinks it can control and punish its citizens, we will always find a way to spit in the face of their tyranny. The government does not own us, it cannot control us or command us what to do. Life always finds a way, and as we discovered this weekend, there are thousands of people who feel the same way that we do, and were not hindered in their enthusiasm to seek adventure in Red River Gorge.

spitting 3

On another plus note, since the federal shut down was in play, people were forbidden to camp in the Danial Boone National Forest. This meant that many more people than normal were using privately owned camp sites to pitch their tents for the night. So no matter how much the President and his minions wish to inflict harm upon the hard working people of this country, it is ultimately the Democrats with their misguided ideology that will suffer. We the people, and capitalism itself are prospering. So by all means, continue your silly charade. We will not be stopped.

spitting 13

A necessary loss

November 2012 provided us with a necessary loss. While the re-election of Barack Obama will deal us a near fatal blow over the coming years, it also saved us from the wolf in sheep’s clothing dressed in Mitt Romney. The pro tax, pro gun legislation candidate was not all that much better than Obama to begin with, and since his defeat, many RINO’s have been spotted and shown their true colors. The likes of John McCain (another candidate against Obama mind you) and other senators such as Lindsey Graham have shown the nation that they are progressives, and have no interest in your liberties.

While the re-election of Barack Obama is a smack in the face for our country, it does not come without a silver lining.

The rise of the libertarian revolution is well under way. The RINO’s of the Republican Party have been targeted, and the Libertarian conservatives are well on the rise.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/aug/16/ron-paul-channel-new-show

Alternative news networks are being established, and are beginning to take the fight to the complicit mainstream media.

It’s frightening to think that when Glenn Beck wrote ‘The Overton Window’ only a few years ago it sounded like pure fiction, and now it has for the most part become pure fact. There are forces that are trying to take down this nation, and there are people actively plotting to end freedom and create a new world order.

This past weekend I spent a few hours reading his latest fiction book ‘The Eye of Moloch’ and was stunned at how accurately he portrays the not to distant future in America. I’m concerned because his last book came into fruition shortly after it was released.

While I usually take Glenn Beck with a grain of salt (his bashing of Ron Paul; a noted libertarian during the 2008 and 2012 republican campaigns have myself and other libertarians very suspicious about his ulterior motives) I do enjoy his fiction work, because his writing style is bite sized and full of vocabulary. Both ‘The Overton Window’ and ‘The Eye of Moloch’ are very informative about what is really going on out there, while giving an adventurous back drop.

While there may be IRS agents currently training in Atlanta on how to implement Obamacare, it is only a matter of time before the 2014 elections come up, and many progressives will be replaced by libertarian leaning senators. It is the job of all the Tea Parties and Libertarian organizations to take this fight for all that it is worth and ensure that new senators and representatives are not only thrown into the ring, but win during this crucial time in our nation’s (and the world’s) history.

impeach

If we can win this next round of elections, we can push forward with impeachment proceedings against our self imposed king, and rid the country of the cancerous ‘Obamacare’ which is stifling innovation in the work place.

And as for the next election; Rand Paul has already set the stage. He knew that without his father as the GOP nominee, they would fail in November last year. It cost him nothing, except a little scorn from Libertarians including myself to get behind Mitt Romney during his run. He knew that the flip flop would fail, and that it would set him up for November 2016. He and his father have been sowing the seeds of an intellectual revolution in the minds of Libertarians and Tea Party people alike over the last five years, and their constitutional minded tactics are beginning to pay off.

While the impending doom of collectivism is now close on our heels, the shining beacon of liberty is within reach. Is today really so much different than what the patriots of the revolution faced all those years ago? I think not.

Liberty is within reach because an idea cannot be defeated by any army or any government. Keep your head up, keep your wits about you; this fight is only just getting started.

the fight has just begun

Atlas is shrugging

Since the confirmation of  Barack Obama to a second term in office, hundreds of businesses are announcing plans to lay off workers and enact a hiring freeze.

Obamacare is unsustainable, and businesses cannot afford to pay for it.

Many State’s are fed up with paying for unending federal programs, and are ready to leave the Union altogether.

To protect yourself and your family, you need knowledge, food, water, guns and ammo (to protect against looters) and a place to stay. Things may get very ugly very quickly. It is up to the individual to protect his or herself. The government cannot protect you, even FEMA is incapable of sitting through a storm.

Capitalism, free markets and liberty is the only way forward. If we can survive another four years, we might see it again. If not, anarchy (and not the good kind) will spread and you will be left to fend for yourself.

If the states are able to break from the union, and deregulate themselves, there may be hope on the horizon, and free trade will flourish spurring a renascence in the economy. But either way, we’re in for a bumpy road ahead.

Atlas is Shrugging. The best thing you can do is be prepared!

The 2012 election fallout

It’s even better than I predicted. I already knew that Romney would fail. After all, who really wanted to vote for the progressive liberal anyway? He was only marginally better than Obama when it came to economics, and that was only because of the looting he did as a vulture capitalist, which was hardly a role model for the country. On every other issue Romney and Obama were essentially the same. Many core republicans voted for him anyway, and are now reeling from the news of finding out that Obama has clinched a second term in office. But the good news is that while everyone’s hair is now standing up on end, their skin has thickened also. Already the Tea Party has called out Speaker of the House John Boehner for his remarks about the Tea Party being ineffective and inconsequential, and his progressive side has shone through on accepting Obama-care as ‘law of the land’. Many conservatives have just had a stinging slap in the face, and are looking very clearly at the corruption in their own party. This corruption is what I have been trying to tell everyone for months. Thank God people are now starting to see it.

I wrote earlier in the week that every cloud has a silver lining, and indeed it does. All the progressives are currently singing and dancing, and already planning to tax us more than ever and load us up with even more stupid government programs. But little do they know that we in the liberty movement have only just started to take a hold of the rug that will be pulled out from under them. The economy will crash before wealthy producers pay another nickle for their stupid social programs. Many people will simply ‘go galt’ before they are driven into wage slavery to support the ‘needy’. The fact that we now have our very way of life at stake means that all the liberty groups will band together to preserve that, and will do all that they can do push our liberty agendas forward.

“This is not the end, this is not even the beginning of the end, but this is perhaps the end of the beginning” – Winston Churchill

Did you really think everything was going to be solved last Tuesday? Did you really expect everything to be put right with another wolf in sheep’s clothing sitting behind the desk in the Oval office? At least with Obama there is a clear and present threat that the majority of us can see. Do you really think that the Army or the local county sheriffs will comply if Obama declares martial law? If it had been Romney, they may have complied, and we would slowly and quietly sink into the abyss. But since it’s Obama, no one will comply. Except maybe the big cities; but they are mostly full of moochers anyway, and their fate will be one of their own creation. As for the true liberty movement, and the core conservatives, we will prevail.

Let the silly progressives have their fun, it will be short lived. The campaign to regain the senate in 2014 has already begun, and the Tea Party has only just began to call out the progressives from within our own party. A revolution is at hand, a revolution of the mind, and all the progressives will fall in our wake.

And as for the next president, let’s choose one who can combine all our movements together, who understands true liberty, who will set this country straight again. I am officially endorsing Rand Paul for president in 2016!

The case against Mitt Romney and the establishment

I will not endorse Mitt Romney because he is cut from the same cloth of all the other establishment politicians who have sidetracked our great republic over the last century.

The main reason that John McCain lost the 2008 election was because he was almost a carbon copy of George Bush. The same George Bush, who signed the patriot act and started up Guantanamo Bay. This same John McCain later went on to co-write the NDAA act. The same act that Mitt Romney supported, and that Barack Obama signed.

Mitt Romney and Barack Obama are very similar. Mitt Romney introduced socialized medicine in Massachusetts, and Barack Obama copied this example when he signed Obama Care.

If you go to Mitt Romney’s campaign page you’ll see a lot of wording that looks like this; ‘an American century’. Which is curious, since ‘an American century’ is what the neocons came up with at the end of the last century, and helped provide a framework for this century.

The Neo Conservatives and their plan for a new American century has now come into fruition and we are now seeing the progression to an American dominated globe and a new world order. This is why I do not support Mitt Romney, nor Barack Obama and why the only candidate who I support is Ron Paul. There are many media talking heads, including Glenn Beck, who now profess the rise of socialism, and where they may be correct, they are wrong in suggesting that someone like Mitt Romney will help fix this.

If you do not support a candidate with a firm moral ground and a full understanding of the constitution, then you will be personally responsible for this country’s demise from liberty.

This country stands perilously close to a totalitarian society. We have now joined the ranks of communist Russia and Nazi Germany in regard to our own citizens as prisoners. It is time to wake up and take back our liberties. It is time to unite behind Ron Paul and overthrow the establishment. It is time to stop being afraid of ‘the other side’ winning, and realize that it is not about the left vs the right, but about us vs the state and all its bloated bureaucracy and control.
